Formula 1 has revealed details of a Saturday night street race in Las Vegas’ entertainment capital, which will take place in November 2023. Find out more about the event and how to attend.
The third American race will be added to the Formula 1 calendar in 2024, according to today’s announcement for a night race on Las Vegas streets in November 2023. Las Vegas, which briefly hosted Formula 1 in the early 1980s, will return alongside existing stateside races in Miami (debuting this season) and Austin (debuting next year).
Las Vegas is nicknamed the “Entertainment Capital of the World” and is recognized for its casinos, entertainment, and theme parks. It is one of the most visited areas in the United States during the holidays.
The race will take place on a 3.8-mile (6.12km) street circuit in the city’s centre, with the cars racing on a section of the famed Las Vegas Strip in front of the iconic casino and hotel buildings including the Venetian, Caesars Palace, and Bellagio.
The 14-turn Las Vegas street circuit, which was developed with overtaking in mind, will include three straights, a high-speed stretch of corners, and a chicane. It is expected to be one of the fastest tracks on the calendar, comparable to Autodromo Monza in Italy.
The 50-lap race will be held under lights on Saturday night, breaking from tradition, adding to the visual spectacle and allowing fans to enjoy the city’s renowned nightlife after the chequered flag falls.
