The best methods to travel around the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix, from free shuttle buses to taxis and Uber.
Where should I fly in from?
Bahrain International Airport (BAH), which serves more than 8 million passengers each year, is located about 7 kilometres northeast of the capital Manama and 35 kilometres from the Bahrain International Circuit. BAH is home to the flag-bearing airline Gulf Air, which has flights to the Gulf, Europe, and Asia.
There are several connecting flights from larger regional airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to Bahrain, but not from Doha; a geopolitical conflict has prevented direct flights between Doha and Bahrain. A taxi from the airport to Manama should cost around $4-$8 USD or you can take the A1 public bus.
What are the transport options in Bahrain?
The most popular way to travel in Bahrain is by taxi, Uber, or personal vehicle since there is no subway system.
Taxis are usually honest, but always demand that you use the meter or negotiate a fair price before you get in. Bahrain Taxi has an excellent reputation (+973 1666 1666).
The circuit’s visitor centre provides a list of other taxi operators, as well as car hire companies (such as Alamo Rent A Car and Budget Rent A Car) for those who want to drive there themselves. There are also public buses and taxis in Bahrain, but they aren’t always that frequent or cheap. If you want more freedom to explore Bahrain on your own terms, renting a vehicle may be an option. Prices are reasonable, and the highway system is up-to-date.
How do I get to the Bahrain International Circuit?
The Bahrain Grand Prix is held in Sakhir, approximately 30 kilometres south of the capital Manama (30-45 minutes driving time). The general area is accessible by public buses, but they do not go straight to the circuit. Here are the easiest methods to reach the track:
The organisers provide a complimentary shuttle bus service from select hotels to Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) from March 17th through March 20th. You must have your F1 tickets on hand to show the driver. The following hotels are serviced by the free shuttle buses: Sofitel, Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons Hotel, Royal Saray Resort, Intercontinental Regency, the Art Hotel Downtown Rotana, Grand Swiss-Belhotel Waterfront Seef.
From October through April, shuttle buses depart from the hotels to the circuit every 45 minutes between 10:00 and 16:00 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Between 18:00 and 23:00 on the same days, shuttle buses return from the circuit every 45 minutes.
Uber or taxi: the fare from Manama to the Bahrain International Circuit should cost around 10-15 BAH ($25-40 USD) each way.
Drive yourself: You may park for free at the circuit and walk around it, or take public transport.
