Everything You Need to Know About f1 Car Tyres

We’ll go through the F1 car’s tyres, which are very well-engineered and complex. Pirelli is the official tire supplier for Formula 1. In rainy situations, full wet tires are utilized in Formula 1 cars.

Tyres are quite important to a Formula One vehicle, and they’re a major component of the car. Pirelli is the primary tyre supplier in Formula 1. They currently provide three dry sets of tyres: soft, medium, and hard. Aside from this, intermediate and complete wet tires are provided by Italian manufacturers in case of rain.

The tyres used by an F1 car are far from ordinary. They differ dramatically from those in motor vehicles. How they’re utilized over the course of the weekend requires a lot of forethought and planning. Here’s a rundown of what you need to know about F1 racing car tyres:

How Are f1 Tyres Chosen?

For the season-ending event on Sunday, two pairs of medium and hard tyres will be provided for each race. 1 set of soft is given to assist drivers in achieving fast lap times during the qualifying sessions. Because qualifying session times are taken into consideration when determining starting positions for the final race, this is critical.

The dry tires for Free Practice sessions are limited to three sets. Before FP2 and FP3 begin, the pairs in FP1 must be returned to Pirelli.

The driver who qualifies in dry tyres must start the race with the tires used in the qualifying session two. This is only for drivers who qualify inside the top ten in qualifying. He may start the race on soft, medium, or hard-compound tires if he qualifies outside of the top ten.

Wet Weather Regulations

In the last race, drivers must use two distinct types of dry tyres. This is not the case if intermediate or full wet tires are being used by the driver. If it is required by the Race Director, full wet and intermediate tyres may be utilized during qualifying. If the rain continues to fall after it has stopped raining, the driver and team can decide whether to change to a dry tire in the pit lane.
